PARKSVILLE – Attendance through the first two weeks of the Parksville Beach Festival has organizers optimistic that it will be another big year.
A record 133,430 people went through the gates in 2016 and as of July 30, they were just shy of 60-thousand. Beach Fest Society president Cheryl Dill says there have been a lot of people visiting Oceanside this summer.
“Tourism numbers in the Parksville area are matching, and slightly higher, than last year,” she said. “Really optimistic that we will match our totals and possibly exceed our totals from last year.”
Crews will be doing some construction work in August around Arbutus Point. Dill says they have been in conversation with the city about Beach Festival needs and will be making sure the work doesn’t impact the visitor experience.
Beach Fest runs through august 20th at the Community Park in Parksville.
