OCEANSIDE — A cop car was damaged after a run-in with two prolific offenders.
A release from Oceanside RCMP said the cruiser was hit when officers found a car they knew was stolen out on a Qualicum Beach forest service road around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20. After the police lights were turned on, the driver of the allegedly stolen car took off and hit the cruiser while going by, causing minor damage.
A spike belt was rolled out on Hwy. 19 in Parksville to catch the car. The belt popped all four tires but the car rolled another two kilometres before ending up in a ditch.
Police said both people in the car were well-known to police and had numerous outstanding warrants.
Amie Kloss, 29-years-old and from Parksville, was charged with possessing both a stolen vehicle and a firearm without a licence, as well as dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
Nanaimo man Kevin Lackie, 27, is facing similar charges.
