PARKSVILLE – Oceanside RCMP credit the public for helping them apprehend two suspects in two days on outstanding warrants.

Corporal Jesse Foreman says one of those arrests, on Thursday, was a 30-year-old woman from Parksville woman wanted on break and enter charges in Oceanside and Nanaimo.

“We had put out a broadcast trying to locate her as we couldn’t find her on these outstanding warrants she had,” said Foreman. “Someone who recognized her from the photo that was put out to the news called us…so it was a direct result of that we were able to apprehend her.”

Public tips also helped them arresta 49-year-old Qualicum Beach man who failed to report to jail for a weekend sentence. Foreman says as is usually the case, someone knows something.

“Sometimes the police need a hand to locate people. And often if somebody is wanted there’s definitely one or two people that know, at any given time, where that person is.”

Foreman reminds people that they can call Crimestoppers anonymously.

The number is 1-800-222-TIPS.
