PARKSVILLE – The City of Parksville has barely started implementing their last budget, but council is already looking to 2018 and beyond.
There are public budget deliberation meetings scheduled for October 30 and November 16. Part of the work on the provisional budget involves gathering comments from residents and the Manager of Communications Deb Tardiff says they’re inviting residents to get involved by attending the meetings.
“There is an opportunity for public input,” said Tardiff. “Or they can comment on facebook or by e-mail. And those comments then will be given to council.”
The general comments are usually a wish list from the public, according to Tardiff.
“I think what council is looking for is an indication from our residents of their priorities. What they want to see. Perhaps projects or a different service delivered or an upgraded service.”
Both consultation meetings are being held in the Forum at the Civic and Technology Centre starting at 6 pm.
Municipal budgets and financial plans from previous years are available for viewing or download from the city’s website.
