NANAIMO — Local Mounties are trying to identify a woman believed to have stolen money from a bank earlier this year.
RCMP report the woman pictured, along with a male accomplice, took an undisclosed sum of money from the Bank of Montreal north Nanaimo branch along the Island Hwy., on Jan. 3, 2025.
She is described as Caucasian, in her mid-30s with long black hair and was wearing a grey hoodie at the time of the incident and tan coloured sweat pants.
Police identified and later arrested the accomplice, 46-year-old Robert Keith Hawkins and he remains in police custody facing a number of charges related to this incident and others.
In addition to one count of theft under $5,000 for the alleged bank robbery, Hawkins is also facing multiple breach of court orders and one charge of flight from police.
He’s also believed to have attacked the owner of a Bowen Rd. jewelery store with bear spray, stolen items from inside and fled in a stolen car in early October 2024.
Charges of theft over $5,000 and motor vehicle theft were laid for the incident.
