PARKSVILLE — An emotional year is capped by winning $500,000 on the Extra for a Parksville family.
Brian and Carolyn Moore bought the ticket in Nanaimo at the Superstore for the April 7 Lotto 6/49 draw and were overjoyed to learn they’d won.
“It’s been very emotional for me,” Brian said in a statement. “I beat cancer this year so this win is just a bonus on top of everything I’m grateful for.”
They’ve hardly slept since their win, instead planning trips to eastern Canada to see family and cross off items from their bucket list.
“I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights,” Carolyn said. “This win gives us the peace of mind to do the things we really want to do and live life to the fullest.”
This is the second time the $500,000 Extra win has gone to someone from the Oceanside area.
David LeBlanc won in early February.
