CAMPBELL RIVER — A substitute teacher in Campbell River was suspended for inaction after not knowing a student in her class was choked out and left with a concussion.

Denise Marie Allard was handed a seven-day suspension and removed from the teacher on call list after the Sept. 27, 2017 incident at a Campbell River high school.

Details of the incident and punishment were laid out in a recently released ruling from the Teacher Regulation Branch.
